Nothing screams, "it's holiday season", louder than apple pie. With Thanksgiving around the corner I wanted to share my favorite spin on this old fashioned double crust apple pie recipe. I simply add about 1 cup caramel and 1/4 tsp. sea-salt to my granny smith apple mixture.
Martha Stewart shares great decorative piecrust ideas. I chose to go with her cut out option, although I had my eye on the honeycomb pattern. Maybe next time. I'm craving to make this classic cherry pie.
Mmmm... the caramel sauce is the best part. You can make a homemade version or cheat and purchase it premade. Try to find a caramel thats thick for dipping apples versus a creamier sauce for ice-cream. Enjoy! Xo Inna.
